Academics
Program of Study
In Fall 2010 I will be strating my fourth year at Georgia Tech. I entered in 2007 as a Discrete Mathematics major, and since then every math class I have taken has served to confirm that this was the correct decision. Since Spring 2009, I have also been minoring in Computer Science, with a focus on the theory of computation. By December of 2010 I will have completed the final class I need for a certificate in Linguistics.
Research
REU
Throughout this Summer, I will be doing research for the Georgia Tech Math REU, under the supervision of Dr. Ernie Croot.

Abstract: In this paper we propose a combinatorial two player game, “Tiontobl”, which is played on the diagonals of a convex n-gon. Any game of Tiontobl can be simplified down into a game of Snort (invented by S. Norton) through a process dubbed “Snortification”. However, a game of Snort cannot be uniquely converted into a game of Tiontobl. We prove that a game of Tiontobl is a first player win for n > 3.
Honors and Awards
I have taken the William Lowell Putnam Exam twice, scoring a 21 (rank 518 of 3627) in 2008 and a 10 (rank 1461 of 4036) in 2009. In Spring of 2010, I was awarded the MCTP scholarship from the School of Mathematics.
High School
I graduated Valedictorian and Top of Class from Troup County Comprehensive High School in Spring of 2007. I was awarded the Hatton Lovejoy Scholarship from the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation, the Diverse Power Scholarship from Diverse Power, and the Governor's and Robert C. Byrd scholarships from the state of Georgia.
